2026년도 아시아 결핵 미래 연구자상 시상 공고 2026 Asian Young Investigator for Tuberculosis Research Award — Call for Applications
2026 Asian Young Investigator for Tuberculosis Research Award Call for Applications
Application Period: May 26 (Tue) - July 5 (Sun), 2026
About the Award
The Asian Young Investigator for Tuberculosis Research Award was established in 2020 to recognize young and talented Asian researchers conducting promising work in tuberculosis (TB) and nontuberculous mycobacteria (NTM) research. This year, the Award will be presented to an Asian researcher who has made an invaluable contribution to TB elimination through both research excellence and field experience.
Through the generous sponsorship of the Seegene Medical Foundation, the prize will be awarded during the 2026 9th International Scientific Conference on “Seeking Ways to Eliminate TB in Asia” organized by the Korean National Tuberculosis Association (KNTA) and the Stop TB Partnership Korea. Details on the Award ceremony will be updated in due course.
Eligibility of Applicant
To be eligible for the Award, the applicant must:
- be an individual;
- hold the citizenship of an Asian country;
- be under 45 years of age at the time of application (born on or after January 1, 1981);

- not have been a recipient of the Award within the previous five years as of 2026; and
- not be a national of a country from which the 2025 Award recipient originated. To provide equal opportunities to researchers across Asia, nationals of the 2025 recipient country are ineligible for the 2026 award.

Application and Award Procedure
All completed application materials must be submitted electronically to the above email addresses by July 5 (Sun), 2026. Upon successful submission, a confirmation email will be sent within one to two business days. All submissions will be reviewed by the Selection Committee, and the winner will be announced in July 2026. The prize will be awarded at the 2026 9th International Scientific Conference, to be held in Mongolia from September 15 to 17.
Selection Criteria
The Selection Committee will assess applications based on the following criteria:
- Research Capacity weighting 60 points out of 100
- Activities/Engagements in TB Eradication weighting 40 points out of 100
1. Research Capacity (60 points)
- The Research Capacity is based on the Impact Factor (IF) of the journal in which the submitted paper was published (prior year’s IF), weighted by the applicant’s authorship role:
- Corresponding Author: 100% | Co-corresponding Author: 50% | First Author: 80% | Co-first Author: 40%
- Scores are calculated on a relative basis, with the highest IF score among all applicants set as the reference point (maximum 60 points). Applicants whose converted score falls below 60 points will have their actual IF-based score applied as-is. This approach is intended to reduce excessive score disparity and ensure that the qualitative assessment of TB field contribution is meaningfully reflected in the final evaluation.
2. Activities/Engagements in TB Eradication (40 points)
- The Selection Committee will assess the applicant’s activities and engagements based on the following sub-criteria:
- The extent to which the purpose and goals of the applicant’s activities align with TB elimination objectives;
- The extent to which goals have been achieved, including quantifiable outputs (e.g., scope and number of beneficiaries) and impact on TB elimination progress;
- The degree of initiative and proactiveness demonstrated in carrying out activities
- The level of scientific and technical expertise exhibited;
- The sustainability of the applicant’s activities going forward;
- The potential for institutional and/or technical application of the applicant’s work; and
- The potential for future collaboration based on the applicant’s activities and engagements.
Requirements for Final Winner
- Attendance at the 2026 9th International Scientific Conference: the final winner will be required to attend the Conference (September 15-17, 2026, Mongolia), deliver a presentation in line with the Conference theme, and participate in the Award ceremony.
