The University of Auckland, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, and the University College London, are conducting a short 10-minute survey on behalf of the World Health Organization (WHO), on user preferences of TB skin testing to inform the upcoming WHO TB testing guidelines. All people who wish to contribute are invited to complete the survey - you do not have to have experience of a skin test yourself. Of particular interest are the views of people with TB, health providers and others involved in TB care such as lab technicians and TB program managers. To access the survey, click here.

The 6th Global Forum on TB Vaccines will be held on 22-24 February 2022 as a hybrid event, with options for in-person and virtual participation. Participant support is available for students, post-docs, early career researchers, advocates, affected communities, and participants from lower- and middle-income countries. Applications for participant support are now being accepted. The Global Health Innovative Technology (GHIT) Fund announced a total of approximately 750 million yen (US$6.6 million) to invest in six partnerships to develop new lifesaving drugs for malaria and Chagas disease, a vaccine for malaria, and diagnostics for TB. The UK Health Security Agency released the latest annual report for TB in England. It shows reported cases of TB fell in England in 2020, reducing rates from 8.4 per 100,000 in 2019 to 7.3 per 100,000. However, the decline in cases must be interpreted with caution, as the COVID-19 pandemic saw a reduction in social mixing and impacted on both access to healthcare and migration patterns in England.

Vietnam is the first country in the world to routinely use an innovative method to diagnose TB using stool. The Simple One-Step (SOS) Stool Method, developed by KNCV Tuberculosis Foundation, is implemented in 10 healthcare facilities across the country. This simple and painless test is an important development for diagnosing TB in children under the age of five and people living with HIV.
