국내에는 소아 청소년 결핵환자가 거의 없지만, 15세 미만의 어린이와 청소년 환자는 전 세계적으로 결핵환자의 약 11%인 110만 명이 결핵에 걸립니다. 세계보건기구(WHO)는 소아(0-<10세) 및 청소년(10-19세 포함)의 결핵 치료 지침이 담긴 ‘operational handbook’을 발간하였습니다. Delamanid는 이 지침에서 모든 연령대의 어린이에게 처방할 것을 권고 받았으며, Tajikistan의 TB 아동 치료에 대한 Medecins Sans Frontieres의 특집기사에서 다른 신약들과 함께 찬사를 받았습니다.

The WHO publishes its ‘ operational handbook ’ with guidelines on how to treat TB in children (0-< 10 years) and teenagers (10-19 years, inclusive). Delamanid is specifically recommended for prescription in children of all ages.

Medecins Sans Frontieres welcomes this new WHO handbook, while noting that more than 60 per cent of children with TB remain undiagnosed, and testing for the disease in low-income countries faces challenges.

The WHO calls for an urgent investment of resources, support, care and information for the fight against TB.
