WHO Global TB Program은 WHO Academy와 협력하여 일상적인 의료 시설 데이터를 활용하는 온라인 과정인 Tuberculosis를 런칭하였습니다. 일상적인 TB surveillance data를 분석, 해석, 제시하는 방법과 결과를 활용하는 방법을 배우며, 결핵 데이터의 기록 및 보고에 관여하는 관계자분들을 위한 강좌라고 합니다. 이 과정은 무료이나, WHO Academy에 등록이 필요하다고 합니다. 아쉽게도 한국어 제공은 안되나, 관심있으신 분들의 수강 부탁드립니다.

The World Health Organization (WHO) will host a webinar on 3 November 2023 to launch an operational handbook and an e-course on TB and mental health conditions. Register for the event here.

The World Health Organization (WHO) Global TB Program in collaboration with the WHO Academy announced the launch of the e-course, Harnessing the power of routine health facility data: Tuberculosis. The e-course can be accessed on the WHO Academy platform here. The course is free of charge and can be followed at one's own pace (approximately 5 hours of learning).

The World Health Organization announced the release of ScreenTB (screentb.org) - a web-based tool designed to assist countries in prioritizing risk groups for TB screening, as well as in developing screening and prevention approaches tailored to country contexts. ScreenTB is available free of charge for all.

The World Health Organization (WHO) Global TB Program is providing secretariat support to the TB vaccine accelerator council, which was recently established to facilitate the development, licensing and use of safe TB vaccines that are impactful in halting the TB epidemic. Civil society representatives with relevant expertise and experience are invited to respond to a call for expression of interest to be engaged in the leadership group of the Council. Vulnerable populations face a substantially higher burden of TB than general populations face, according to systematic review findings published in The Lancet Infectious Diseases. Asylum seekers, refugees, those with HIV, incarcerated individuals, and homeless individuals often had TB prevalence ratios greater than 25 vs the general population.

A study, published in The Lancet Microbe, has found that antibiotics used to treat TB kill other potentially useful bacteria. The 'killing effect' was more pronounced in the first two weeks of the patient taking antibiotics, after which the bacteria began to recover, achieving a similar level of abundancy as before treatment within 2 months.

Adding dexamethasone to treatment for TB meningitis among heavily immunosuppressed HIV-positive patients in a low-resource setting did not significantly improve survival or confer any other measured benefits, a randomized controlled trial, published in the the New England Journal of Medicine, showed.

A study, published in Nature Microbiology, showed that, when given intravenously, the only commercially available vaccine against TB (Bacillus Calmette-Guérin vaccine) successfully and safely prevents lung infection in monkeys, or primates, infected with the simian form of HIV, called SIV. This is despite the vaccine being contraindicated for people living with HIV.
