The World Health Organization (WHO) is in the process of updating high-priority Target Product Profiles (TPPs) for TB screening tests. WHO is therefore seeking feedback on the draft TPPs from experts in the scientific community involved in TB care. Comments and suggestions are welcome via this link by 29 February 2024. |

High numbers of children die from TB every year in part because the disease is chronically underdiagnosed, with diagnosis reliant on tools and approaches that are insufficient and ill-adapted to the needs of children. Médecins Sans Frontières released a factsheet outlining the current scenario of diagnosing TB in children and making recommendations to test developers for needed improvements. A novel approach to studying the progression of TB from infection to disease has identified and treated people at increased risk of developing the disease that current methods of testing would not.
